“Sistah to Sistah”

Dear friends and familia,

We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support to fund our sisters’ from New Orleans campaign–“Sistah to Sistah: A Road trip fundraiser to support the Ovarian Psycos” on Indiegogo.com.

Their trip, which is scheduled to take place in January 2013, is designed to raise funds, awareness and support for Ovarian Psycos’ all-womyn run community bicycle space which we intend to open in Boyle Heights in our effort to continue to empower young womyn of color in underserved communities.

We would greatly appreciate your support in helping these two ambitious young womyn mechanics from New Orleans, Tracey and Alisha, raise the necessary funds of $1,000 to cover travel expenses and purchase equipment. They will also be collecting donations of money, books, ‘zines, tools, bike parts, office equipment and other resources you may have to help us get the shop up and running.
All of your contributions are tax-deductible through Plan B’s 501-C3 non-profit status. Ask us how!

We appreciate any help you are able to contribute to this incredible manifestation of sisterhood including sharing this message among your contacts.

RIDE OUT 1pm sharp from Self Help Graphics

1300 East 1st Street  Los Angeles, CA 90033

***Three designated pit-stops will have water and snacks to refuel but please BRING PLENTY OF BOTTLED WATER and drink a lot of water in the days before!***

Please feel free to arrive as early as 10am to participate in Building Healthy Communities Cultural Treasures Project with presentations by community members, food and music.

ABOUT THE TOUR

Tour de la Heights riders will ride from the new site of Self Help Graphics, its walls a kaleidoscope painted by the brushes of the community’s greatest artists, past the site of the fantastical Caine’s arcade on Mission Road, make our way past the LAC+USC hospital the site of thousands of births, over freeway overpasses until reaching a cruising speed down to the boulevard known to some as Cesar Chavez or depending on how old you are, Brooklyn.

We will make our way past the solemn yet lively Evergreen cemetery with its multi-purpose path past joggers that can be found running any time of day or night to El Mercadito waving at crowds of people strolling, reminiscing about the plazas and mercados in their own pueblos back home, through residential neighborhoods and big boulevards, schools and cultural centers, taking back and reclaiming our communities in a truly critical mass!

Adopt-an-Intersection @ CicLAvia 4.15.12 – 4th and Boyle

We were very happy to have adopted an intersection at this year’s CicLAvia 4.15.12!

The brigade was psoted up at the intersection of 4th and Boyle in Boyle Heights (represent!) from 9:ooam-3:oopm!

Accross the street, a local business owner was nice enough to let us hook up to his electricity so our very own Xela & Fingers could hype up the crowd. 😉

We sold the Boyle Heights Cyclavia 2012 cycalaca t-shirts and tanks and had an all-around great time saying hello to the ovarian psycolists who call LA home. ❤
