The 1st Annual Tour de la Heights

“‘The act of having pride and paying reverence to one’s own community.. is to instill within our seeds and future generations a profound sense of self worth and value.

It’s the communal reclamation of our neighborhoods.. a resident rebellion!”

Tour de la Heights is an all-inclusive, all-ages bicycle ride through the good hood–Boyle Heights that will lead the community through 10-20 points of interest or, as we call them, cultural treasures. ❤

ABOUT THE TOUR

Tour de la Heights riders will ride from the new site of Self Help Graphics, its walls a kaleidoscope painted by the brushes of the community’s greatest artists, past the site of the fantastical Caine’s arcade on Mission Road, make our way past the LAC+USC hospital the site of thousands of births, over freeway overpasses until reaching a cruising speed down to the boulevard known to some as Cesar Chavez or depending on how old you are, Brooklyn.

We will make our way past the solemn yet lively Evergreen cemetery with its multi-purpose path past joggers that can be found running any time of day or night to El Mercadito waving at crowds of people strolling, reminiscing about the plazas and mercados in their own pueblos back home, through residential neighborhoods and big boulevards, schools and cultural centers, taking back and reclaiming our communities in a truly critical mass!
